#76 Baby - Curried Goat!

Okay, first of all, clearly I can't count. Upon loading the my Omnivore's 100 list into Excel and double-checking, turns out I only tried 75 items. Weak.

But I am slowly clawing my way back up the ranks on the list as of yesterday I can definitively say that I've tried curried goat now. Since the summer began, I've been begging coworkers to do food cart crawls around midtown, where I work. We've hit up the bulgolgi cart, and that's decent, but I've heard great things about the Jamaican cart. That cart has a bloody flat screen TV on it, plus little paper menus for you to peruse. This is the cart to visit.

The cart vendor asked if it was my first time there, as I stood on tiptoe and shoved my face through the window to stare at the big pots of stew. I ordered the curried goat, with rice and beans, small. Small is large. Small is huge. Small is enough to feed a starving family of three or two young lovers on a shoestring budget trying to finish up their graduate degrees.

Portion size aside, the curried goat was pretty good, lots of little bones. The meat was not particularly distinctive in flavor, not as strong tasting as lamb, but maybe that's because it was drowning in all the sauce. My friend ordered the jerk chicken, and it was better.
