Aquavit Smörgåsbord

Well, the new kids on the block arrived at work, so of course we had to suck up and make friendly. Welcome dinner was at Aquavit and consisted of a buffet. I went nuts.

Herring sampler: don't remember what the green one was, but there was pickled (horseradish, black pepper), curry (apples, chives), matjes (red onion, sour cream), gentlemen's delight (sweet anchovy, egg).
Spiced smoked salmon. I didn't really like this, but other people did. It was basically meaty and smoky.

Gravlax.
Deviled eggs. Quote good, with little salmon caviar.

Calf's liver pate. Not rich enough for this gal.

Princess cake. People went nuts for this. Marzipan shell, cream filling with cake layers. The marzipan was quite light for marzipan, but it was still too sweet for me.

This I loved. Little rich chocolate cake squares, but more like a flourless chocolate cake. There were also these incredible bite sized walnut tarts and several more desserts.
