We both ordered the Yuzu-Hi. It's Yuzu, St. Germain and Shochu. If you've never had yuzu before, it's tastes like a bit of a cross between a lime and lemon, and it's wonderful in drinks and with seafood.
For an appetizer, we got the Braised Berkshire Pork Belly, topped with Crispy Rice. The pork was rich and caramelised with a sweet and salty soy sauce, and the crispy rice provided a nice texture contrast to the unctuousness of the belly.
KM got a spicy tuna roll and fried oyster roll. I love fried oyster rolls, Tenzan makes one of the best. They make their own soy sauce at Blue Ribbon, and it's a darker, sweeter and thicker accompaniment to sushi.

I got the Fried Chicken "Blue Ribbon Style" with wasabi and honey dipping sauce. Oh if I had only known. I've heard about Blue Ribbon's fried chicken for years, but I always figured that it was just an excellent execution of standard southern fried chicken. Little did I know that their fried chicken is a new take on the dish. The batter is lighter and crispier than regular fried chicken, and it doesn't taste as greasy. The spicy sweet dipping sauce is completely addictive and really brings the dish out of the realm of southern style fried chicken and into its own category. to think of all the years when I could have been having Blue Ribbon fried chicken, squandered years. Recession budget or not, I'm going to need to find a way back and soon.
